  1 11 A Resolution congratulating the Iowa State Cyclones
  1 12    Women's Basketball Team.
  1 13    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
  1 14 Team tied the school record of 27 games won this
  1 15 season; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are greatly pleased
  1 17 and justly proud that the Iowa State Cyclones Women's
  1 18 Basketball Team finished third in the Big 12
  1 19 Conference, and won the Big 12 Tournament; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
  1 21 Team advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen seeded No. 2
  1 22 in the Midwest Region, the highest NCAA Tournament
  1 23 seed in program history, and reaching the Sweet
  1 24 Sixteen for the third year in a row; and
  1 25    WHEREAS, the Cyclones received many athletic
  1 26 honors, including a player who was voted to the
  1 27 Associated Press All-American third team as well as
  1 28 named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and
  1 29 selected as a second team All-American by the Women's
  1 30 Basketball News Service, and four players named to the
  2  1 all-Big 12 Conference team, the second consecutive
  2  2 season the Cyclones have had the most players in the
  2  3 conference honored; and
  2  4    WHEREAS, the Cyclones also had seven team members
  2  5 named to the 2001 Big 12 academic all-conference team,
  2  6 the most ever in Cyclone women's basketball history,
  2  7 and one member was voted to the Verizon/CoSIDA
  2  8 District VII Women's Basketball Academic All-American
  2  9 second team; and
  2 10    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
  2 11 Team consistently thrilled spectators and drew
  2 12 tremendous attendance and support from its fans; and
  2 13    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
  2 14 Team and Coach Bill Fennelly and the coaching staff
  2 15 delighted Iowans with hard work, teamwork, and
  2 16 victories; NOW THEREFORE,
  2 17    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  2 18 That the House of Representatives congratulates Coach
  2 19 Bill Fennelly and the Iowa State Cyclones Women's
  2 20 Basketball Team on their successful season, thanks
  2 21 them for the honor and excitement they brought to the
  2 22 State of Iowa, and wishes them the very best in the
  2 23 future.
  2 24    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2 25 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
  2 26 prepare a copy of this Resolution for presentation to
  2 27 Coach Bill Fennelly and the Iowa State Cyclones
  2 28 Women's Basketball Team.
