  1  1    Section 1.  2001 Iowa Acts, chapter 186, section 6,
  1  2 subsection 6, is amended by striking the subsection.
  1  3    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1  4 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.  
  1  5                           EXPLANATION 
  1  6    This bill eliminates certain restrictions placed on drug
  1  7 courts established during the 2001-2002 state fiscal year.
  1  8    The restrictions eliminated by the bill require drug courts
  1  9 to be offered only to persons who have been convicted of a
  1 10 crime and to give priority to felons over misdemeanants.
  1 11    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
