1 1 Section 1. Section 331.441, subsection 2, paragraph b,
1 2 subparagraph (2), Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read as
1 3 follows:
1 4 (2) Bridges, culverts, railroad overhead crossings, or
1 5 subways on secondary roads in the county and on highways or
1 6 parts of highways which are located along the corporate limits
1 7 of cities and are partly within and partly without the limits
1 8 and are in whole or in part secondary roads.
1 9 Sec. 2. Section 331.441, subsection 2, paragraph b, Code
1 10 Supplement 2001, is amended by adding the following new
1 11 subparagraph:
1 12 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH. (15) The opening, widening, extending,
1 13 grading, and draining of the right-of-way of secondary roads,
1 14 including the construction, reconstruction, and repair of
1 15 secondary roads, sidewalks, pedestrian overpasses, and
1 16 underpasses associated with secondary roads, and the
1 17 acquisition of real estate needed for such purposes.
1 18 EXPLANATION
1 19 This bill adds to the definition of essential county
1 20 purpose the following major infrastructure projects that can
1 21 be financed with general obligation bonds:
1 22 1. Bridges, culverts, railroad overhead crossings, or
1 23 subways on secondary highways in the county and along
1 24 corporate limits of cities.
1 25 2. The opening, widening, extending, grading, and draining
1 26 of the right-of-way of secondary roads, including the
1 27 construction, reconstruction, and repair of secondary roads,
1 28 sidewalks, pedestrian overpasses, and underpasses associated
1 29 with secondary roads, and the acquisition of real estate
1 30 needed for such purposes.
