1 1 Section 1. Section 481A.38, subsection 1, unnumbered
1 2 paragraph 2, Code Supplement 2001, is amended by striking the
1 3 unnumbered paragraph.
1 4 Sec. 2. Section 481A.48, Code Supplement 2001, is amended
1 5 by adding the following new subsection:
1 6 NEW SUBSECTION. 6. The commission shall establish a
1 7 separate season for taking deer with a crossbow by any deer
1 8 hunting licensee.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill directs the natural resource commission to
1 11 establish a separate season for taking deer with a crossbow by
1 12 any deer hunting licensee. The bill also strikes a provision
1 13 which limits the use of a crossbow to handicapped persons who
1 14 are physically incapable of using a bow and arrow.
1 15 Violations of taking out-of-season and over-limit
1 16 restrictions are punishable with a fine of $100. An attempt
1 17 to take violation is punishable by a fine of $50.
