PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.24, subsection 2, paragraph b, 1 2 Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 b. Upon written application on forms furnished by the 1 4 department, the department shall issue annually without fee 1 5 one deer or one wild turkey license, or both, to the owner of 1 6 a farm unit or to a member of the owner's family, but not to 1 7 both, and to the tenant or to a member of the tenant's family, 1 8 but not to both. The deer hunting license or wild turkey 1 9 hunting license issued shall be valid only on the farm unit 1 10 for which an applicant qualifies pursuant to this subsection 1 11 and shall be equivalent to the least restrictive license 1 12 issued under section 481A.38. The owner or the tenant need 1 13 not reside on the farm unit to qualify for a free license to 1 14 hunt on that farm unit. A free deer hunting license issued 1 15 pursuant to this subsection shall be valid during allshotgun1 16 deer seasons with the use of any method of taking or any 1 17 weapon which is lawful during any deer season. 1 18 EXPLANATION 1 19 This bill provides that a landowner, tenant, or a family 1 20 member of a landowner or tenant may hunt deer with the free 1 21 deer hunting license on the farm unit during all deer seasons 1 22 and may use any method of taking or any weapon which is lawful 1 23 during any deer season. 1 24 LSB 5308HH 79 1 25 tj/sh/8
