PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 100B.11, subsection 3, Code 2001, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 3. For purposes of this section, "volunteer emergency 1 4 services provider" means a volunteer fire fighter as defined 1 5 in section 85.61,ora volunteer emergency medical care 1 6 provider or volunteer emergency rescue technician defined in 1 7 section 147A.1 who is not covered as a volunteer emergency 1 8 services provider under chapter 97A, 97B, or 411, or a reserve 1 9 peace officer as defined in section 80D.1A. 1 10 EXPLANATION 1 11 This bill provides that beneficiaries of reserve peace 1 12 officers, as defined by Code section 80D.1A, are eligible to 1 13 receive a $100,000 death benefit for the death of a reserve 1 14 peace officer in the line of duty. The bill adds reserve 1 15 peace officers to the definition of a volunteer emergency 1 16 services provider for the purpose of establishing eligibility 1 17 for this death benefit. The entire death benefit provision is 1 18 repealed effective July 1, 2002. 1 19 LSB 2968HH 79 1 20 ec/pj/5
