PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 514C.4, subsection 2, paragraphs b and 1 2 c, Code 2001, are amended to read as follows: 1 3 b. A mammogram everytwo yearsyear for any woman who is 1 4 fortythrough forty-nineyears of age or older, or more 1 5 frequently if recommended by the woman's physician. 1 6c. A mammogram every year for any woman who is fifty years1 7of age or older.1 8 EXPLANATION 1 9 This bill changes the definition of "minimum mammography 1 10 examination coverage", a definition which sets the minimum 1 11 standard for mammography benefits under a policy or contract 1 12 providing for third-party payment or prepayment of health or 1 13 medical expenses. The bill changes the minimum standard to a 1 14 mammogram every year for any woman who is 40 or older, or more 1 15 frequently if physician-recommended, rather than the current 1 16 standard of one mammogram every two years for women between 1 17 the ages of 40 and 49, and one mammogram every year for any 1 18 woman aged 50 or older, or more frequently if physician- 1 19 recommended. The bill would continue the current standard of 1 20 one baseline mammogram for any woman aged 35 through 39. 1 21 LSB 2626HH 79 1 22 jj/pj/5
