  1  1    Section 1.  CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION PROGRAM –
  1  2 APPROPRIATION.  There is appropriated from the general fund of
  1  3 the state to the Iowa department of public health for the
  1  4 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2002,
  1  5 the following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to
  1  6 be used for the purpose designated:
  1  7    For expansion of the childhood lead poisoning prevention
  1  8 program established in section 135.101 to nine additional
  1  9 counties:  
  1 10 .................................................. $    153,000
  1 11    It is the intent of the general assembly that the childhood
  1 12 lead poisoning prevention program be expanded, incrementally,
  1 13 in subsequent fiscal years with the goal of expanding the
  1 14 program to all counties by fiscal year 2004-2005.  
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16    This bill provides an appropriation of $153,000 from the
  1 17 general fund of the state to the Iowa department of public
  1 18 health for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, and ending
  1 19 June 30, 2002, for the expansion of the childhood lead
  1 20 poisoning prevention program (CLPPP) to nine additional
  1 21 counties.  The bill provides that it is the intent of the
  1 22 general assembly to expand the CLPPP, incrementally, during
  1 23 subsequent fiscal years with the goal of expanding the program
  1 24 to all counties by fiscal year 2005.
