1 1 Section 1. Section 805.8, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 2B. MOVING TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS – SCHOOL
1 4 ZONES. The scheduled fine for any moving traffic violation
1 5 under chapter 321, as provided in this section, shall be
1 6 doubled if the violation occurs within any school zone
1 7 established under section 321.249, on a day when school is in
1 8 session.
1 9 Sec. 2. POSTING OF SIGNS. The state department of
1 10 transportation shall adopt rules regarding the design and
1 11 posting of signs designating school zones established under
1 12 section 321.249.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill provides that the scheduled fine for any moving
1 15 traffic violation shall be doubled if the violation occurs
1 16 within any school zone on a day when school is in session.
1 17 The bill also directs the state department of transportation
1 18 to adopt rules regarding the design and posting of such signs.
