  1  1    Section 1.  Section 144.29A, subsection 1, paragraph c,
  1  2 Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    c.  The maternal health services region of the Iowa
  1  4 department of public health, as designated as of July 1, 1997,
  1  5 county in which the patient resides.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 144.29A, subsection 1, Code 2001, is
  1  7 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1  8    NEW PARAGRAPH.  k.  The method used for an induced
  1  9 abortion.  
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill amends the section of the Code relating to
  1 12 termination of pregnancy reporting.  The bill requires a
  1 13 health care provider who initially identifies and diagnoses a
  1 14 spontaneous termination of pregnancy or who induces a
  1 15 termination of pregnancy to report the method used if the
  1 16 termination of pregnancy is induced and also to report the
  1 17 county in which the patient resides.  Under existing law, the
  1 18 method used to induce a termination of pregnancy is not
  1 19 required to be reported and the maternal health services
  1 20 region in which the patient resides is to be reported.
