1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY QUIRK
1 3 A Concurrent Resolution requesting the legislative
1 4 council to establish a study committee to consider
1 5 options for simplifying Iowa's income taxation in a
1 6 revenue-neutral manner.
1 7 WHEREAS, income taxes are a vital component of the
1 8 revenue used to provide the important government
1 9 services that citizens have come to rely upon; and
1 10 WHEREAS, Iowa's system of income taxation has been
1 11 criticized for its complexity compared to the income
1 12 taxation systems of other states; and
1 13 WHEREAS, options exist to simplify Iowa's income
1 14 taxation system in a revenue-neutral manner; NOW
1 15 THEREFORE,
1 16 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 17 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is
1 18 requested to establish a study committee for the 2001
1 19 legislative interim to consider options for
1 20 simplifying Iowa's income taxation system in a
1 21 revenue-neutral manner and to provide findings and
1 22 recommendations for consideration by the Seventy-ninth
1 23 General Assembly, 2002 Regular Session.
