1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY WARNSTADT
1 3 A Concurrent Resolution providing for the establishment
1 4 of a committee by the legislative council to conduct
1 5 a study of economic development issues related to the
1 6 distribution of goods.
1 7 WHEREAS, the distribution of goods and the
1 8 development of warehouses and distribution centers for
1 9 goods in the state is considered an important segment
1 10 of the economy of the state of Iowa; and
1 11 WHEREAS, opportunity exists for increased
1 12 warehousing and distribution center activity in Iowa
1 13 due to recent federal designations of interstates 29
1 14 and 35 as federal high priority corridors for enhanced
1 15 trade traffic between the United States, Canada, and
1 16 Mexico; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the general assembly believes a
1 18 comprehensive study of the distribution of goods and
1 19 the development of warehouses and distribution centers
1 20 in the state is necessary and in the best interests of
1 21 the economic health of the citizens of the state of
1 22 Iowa; NOW THEREFORE,
1 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 24 SENATE CONCURRING, That the legislative council is
1 25 requested to appoint a study committee for the 2001
1 26 interim to conduct a comprehensive study of the
1 27 distribution of goods and the development of
1 28 warehouses and distribution centers in the state by
1 29 studying all statutory, regulatory, taxation, and
1 30 other issues related to the distribution of goods and
2 1 the development of warehouses and distribution
2 2 centers.
