  1 13 A Concurrent Resolution requesting the congressional
  1 14 delegation of the state of Iowa support President Bush's tax
  1 15 relief proposal.
  1 16    WHEREAS, federal taxes are the highest they have
  1 17 ever been during peacetime; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, all taxpayers should be allowed to keep
  1 19 more of their own money; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, the best way to encourage economic growth
  1 21 is to cut marginal tax rates across all tax brackets;
  1 22 and
  1 23    WHEREAS, under current tax law, low-income workers
  1 24 often pay the highest marginal rates; and
  1 25    WHEREAS, President Bush's tax relief plan will
  1 26 contribute to raising the standard of living for all
  1 27 Americans; and
  1 28    WHEREAS, President Bush's tax relief plan will
  1 29 increase access to the middle class for hard-working
  1 30 families, treat all middle class families more fairly,
  2  1 encourage entrepreneurship and growth, and promote
  2  2 charitable giving and education; and
  2  3    WHEREAS, under President Bush's tax relief plan,
  2  4 the largest percentage reductions will go to the
  2  5 lowest-income earners; NOW THEREFORE,
  2  6    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
  2  7 SENATE CONCURRING, That the General Assembly urges
  2  8 Iowa's elected Senators and Representatives in the
  2  9 United States Congress to support and work to pass the
  2 10 tax relief plan introduced by President Bush.
  2 11    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, copies
  2 12 of this Resolution shall be sent by the Chief Clerk of
  2 13 the House of Representatives to Senator Charles E.
  2 14 Grassley, Senator Tom Harkin, Representative Jim
  2 15 Leach, Representative Jim Nussle, Representative
  2 16 Leonard Boswell, Representative Greg Ganske, and
  2 17 Representative Tom Latham.
