1 3 #1. Page 1, by inserting before line 1, the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Section 1. Section 598.7A, subsection 4,
1 6 paragraph e, Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read
1 7 as follows:
1 8 e. The costs of mediation or a settlement
1 9 conference shall be borne by the parties, as agreed to
1 10 by the parties, or as ordered by the court, and may be
1 11 taxed as court costs. Mediation shall be provided on
1 12 a sliding fee scale for parties who are determined to
1 13 be indigent pursuant to section 815.9."
1 14 #2. Page 1, line 1, by inserting after the word
1 15 "Code" the following: "Supplement".
1 16 #3. Page 1, by striking lines 10 through 16, and
1 17 inserting the following: "court shall require the
1 18 parties to participate in mediation or a settlement
1 19 conference in any dissolution of marriage action or
1 20 other domestic relations action which involves custody
1 21 of a child, unless the parties have agreed upon
1 22 custody and visitation prior to a court hearing or
1 23 trial. The participation in mediation or a settlement
1 24 conference under this subsection shall include
1 25 receiving assistance in the completion of a parenting
1 26 agreement between the parties that specifies the
1 27 details of visitation."
1 28 #4. Page 1, line 25, by inserting after the word
1 29 "mediation" the following: "or a settlement
1 30 conference".
1 31 #5. Page 1, line 27, by inserting after the word
1 32 "mediation" the following: "or a settlement
1 33 conference".
1 34 #6. Page 1, line 31, by inserting after the word

1 42 #9. Page 2, by inserting after line 30, the
1 43 following:
1 44 "Sec. . EFFECTIVE DATE. The section of this
1 45 Act enacting section 598.7A, subsection 6, takes
1 46 effect July 1, 2003."
1 47 #10. Title page, line 2, by inserting after the
1 48 word "of" the following: "a settlement conference
1 49 or".
1 50 #11. Title page, line 3, by inserting after the
2 1 word "disputed" the following: ", and providing an
2 2 effective date".
2 3 #12. By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating
2 4 and correcting internal references as necessary.
