  1  1    Amend Senate File 2267, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  By striking everything after the enacting
  1  4 clause and inserting the following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  JUDICIAL REORGANIZATION COMMISSION.
  1  6 The supreme court shall form a commission to develop a
  1  7 plan to reorganize the judicial districts and election
  1  8 districts in the state.  The commission shall consist
  1  9 of two members of the judiciary, two members of the
  1 10 general assembly, an attorney, a clerk of the district
  1 11 court, and two members of the general public.  In
  1 12 developing the reorganization plan the commission
  1 13 shall consult with and receive input from members of
  1 14 the general public, court employees, judges, members
  1 15 of the general assembly, the eight judicial
  1 16 departments of correctional services, county officers,
  1 17 officials from other interested political
  1 18 subdivisions, and attorneys.  The commission shall
  1 19 submit a proposed plan to the general assembly by July
  1 20 1, 2003.  The proposed plan shall be accompanied by a
  1 21 report stating the reasons for developing the plan and
  1 22 describing in detail the process used in developing
  1 23 the plan."

  1 25 "relating to reorganizing" and inserting the
  1 26 following:  "creating a commission for the
  1 27 reorganization of".
