  1  1    Amend House File 2549 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 14, by inserting after the word
  1  3 "standards." the following:  "The director shall
  1  4 consult with school administrators, teachers, school
  1  5 board members, and professional organizations
  1  6 representing the majority of school nurses, preschool
  1  7 teachers, and school social workers when developing
  1  8 evaluation, advancement, and career development models
  1  9 for school nurses, preschool teachers, and school
  1 10 social workers."
  1 11    #2.  Page 2, line 24, by inserting after the word
  1 12 "subsections" the following:  "1 through".
  1 13    #3.  Page 2, by inserting after line 25 the
  1 14 following:
  1 15    "1.  "Beginning teacher" means an individual
  1 16 serving under an initial provisional license, issued
  1 17 by the board of educational examiners under chapter
  1 18 272, who is assuming a position as a classroom
  1 19 teacher.  For purposes of the beginning teacher
  1 20 mentoring and induction program created pursuant to
  1 21 section 284.5, "beginning teacher" also includes
  1 22 preschool teachers who are licensed by the board of
  1 23 educational examiners under chapter 272 and are
  1 24 employed by a school district or area education
  1 25 agency.
  1 26    2.  "Classroom teacher" means an individual who
  1 27 holds a valid practitioner's license and who is
  1 28 employed under a teaching contract with a school
  1 29 district or area education agency in this state issued
  1 30 by a board of directors under section 279.13 to
  1 31 provide classroom instruction to students, or as a
  1 32 preschool teacher."
  1 33    #4.  Page 3, line 11, by inserting after the word
  1 34 "specialist," the following:  "school nurse, preschool
  1 35 teacher, school social worker,".
