1 1 Amend Senate File 2304, as amended, passed, and
1 2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
1 3 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 4 clause and inserting the following:
1 5 "Section 1. IOWA ECONOMIC EMERGENCY FUND.
1 6 1. There is appropriated from the Iowa economic
1 7 emergency fund created in section 8.55 to the general
1 8 fund of the state for the fiscal year beginning July
1 9 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2002, the following
1 10 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used
1 11 for the purpose designated:
1 12 For providing necessary funding to the general fund
1 13 of the state:
1 14 .................................................. $121,707,641
1 15 2. The moneys appropriated in this section are
1 16 declared to be appropriated for emergency expenditures
1 17 as required in section 8.55, subsection 3, paragraph
1 18 "a".
1 19 Sec. 2. LEGISLATIVE APPROPRIATIONS REDUCTION.
1 20 1. The appropriations made from the general fund
1 21 of the state in section 2.12 to the general assembly
1 22 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, and ending
1 23 June 30, 2002, shall be reduced by 2.6 percent.
1 24 2. In order to implement the reductions required
1 25 by this section for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 26 2001, in addition to employee furloughs and other
1 27 expense reductions, notwithstanding the annual salary
1 28 rates authorized for members of the general assembly
1 29 in section 2.10, the salary rates for such members
1 30 shall be reduced by applying a 5 percent reduction to
1 31 the portion of annual salary attributable to the
1 32 period beginning on the effective date of this Act
1 33 through June 30, 2002, as if the members were all paid
1 34 a salary under section 2.10, subsection 4, paragraph
1 35 "a".
1 36 Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 37 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment."
1 38 #2. Title page, by striking lines 1 through 4 and
1 39 inserting the following: "An Act making an
1 40 appropriation to the general fund of the state for the
1 41 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, reducing
1 42 appropriations to the legislative branch for that
1 43 fiscal year, and providing an effective date."
