PAG LIN 1 1 Amend House File 751 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 2, by inserting after line 32 the 1 3 following: 1 4 "1A. In addition to the criteria listed in 1 5 subsection 1, the department of economic development 1 6 shall consider all of the following when making a 1 7 determination of whether a business is a qualifying 1 8 business: 1 9 a. Whether the wages, benefits, including health 1 10 benefits, safety, and other attributes of the business 1 11 would improve the quality of other existing regional 1 12 or statewide cultural, recreational, entertainment, 1 13 and educational activities or employment in the 1 14 community. 1 15 b. The ability of the business to produce a long- 1 16 term, tax-generating economic impact. 1 17 c. The investment of the city, county, or region 1 18 in the business. 1 19 d. Other funding mechanisms. 1 20 e. The long-term economic viability of the 1 21 business. 1 22 f. The extent to which the business has taken the 1 23 following planning principles into consideration: 1 24 (1) Efficient and effective use of land resources 1 25 and existing infrastructure by encouraging development 1 26 in areas with existing infrastructure or capacity to 1 27 avoid costly duplication of services and costly use of 1 28 land. 1 29 (2) Provision for a variety of transportation 1 30 choices, including pedestrian traffic. 1 31 (3) Maintenance of a unique sense of place by 1 32 respecting local cultural and natural environmental 1 33 features. 1 34 (4) Conservation of open space and farmland and 1 35 preservation of critical environmental areas. 1 36 (5) Promotion of the safety, livability, and 1 37 revitalization of existing urban and rural 1 38 communities." 1 39 1 40 1 41 1 42 FALLON of Polk 1 43 HF 751.706 79 1 44 tm/cls
