  1  1    Amend Senate File 165, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  By striking everything after the enacting
  1  4 clause and inserting the following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  IOWA ENGLISH LANGUAGE REAFFIRMATION
  1  6 INTERIM STUDY.  The legislative council is requested
  1  7 to authorize an English language reaffirmation interim
  1  8 study committee to analyze the potential economic
  1  9 impact to the state if the English language is
  1 10 declared to be the official language of the state of
  1 11 Iowa.  The study committee shall submit a report of
  1 12 findings and recommendations to the governor and the
  1 13 general assembly on or before December 15, 2001."
  1 14    #2.  Title page, by striking lines 1 and 2 by
  1 15 inserting the following:  "An Act creating an Iowa
  1 16 English language reaffirmation interim study."
