1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1662, to House File 725 as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by striking lines 4 and 5 and
1 4 inserting the following:
1 5 "Sec. 101. SECURITY MEASURES TO CONTROL FOREIGN
1 6 AGRICULTURAL ANIMAL DISEASES. There is".
1 7 #2. Page 1, by striking lines 12 through 26 and
1 8 inserting the following:
1 9 "For the implementation of security measures
1 10 necessary in order to control outbreaks of foreign
1 11 agricultural animal diseases introduced into this
1 12 state, such as mad cow disease, foot and mouth
1 13 disease, and classical swine fever (hog cholera),
1 14 including for salaries, support, maintenance, and
1 15 miscellaneous purposes:
1 16 .................................................. $ 200,000
1 17 . The department shall expend moneys
1 18 appropriated in this section as deemed necessary by
1 19 the department to support prevention, including by
1 20 education and training; surveillance and detection,
1 21 including by monitoring and testing; and emergency
1 22 response if necessary, including by the issuance of
1 23 orders restricting the movement of agricultural
1 24 animals. The department shall do all of the
1 25 following:"
1 26 #3. Page 1, line 29, by striking the word
1 27 "livestock" and inserting the following:
1 28 "agricultural".
1 29 #4. Page 1, by inserting after line 32 the
1 30 following:
1 31 " . The department shall cooperate with other
1 32 agencies of the state, including the emergency
1 33 management division of the department of public
1 34 defense, the department of natural resources, and the
1 35 department of public safety. The department shall
1 36 also cooperate with the United States department of
1 37 agriculture, and interested associations, including
1 38 associations representing agricultural producers.
1 39 . The department shall apply for moneys
1 40 appropriated by the federal government in order to
1 41 support the purposes of this section.
1 42 . The Iowa cattlemen's association, the Iowa
1 43 pork producers association, the Iowa sheep
1 44 association, the Iowa poultry association, the Iowa
1 45 turkey federation, the Iowa dairy products
1 46 association, the Iowa corn growers association, the
1 47 Iowa soybean association, the Iowa farm bureau
1 48 federation, the agribusiness association of Iowa, and
1 49 associations representing financial institutions in
1 50 this state shall to every extent possible provide
2 1 financial or in-kind contributions in order to assist
2 2 the department in carrying out this section."
