  1  1    Amend Senate File 350, as passed by the Senate, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 6, by inserting after line 25 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec.    .  Section 321.445, subsection 2,
  1  6 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2001, is amended to read
  1  7 as follows:
  1  8    The driver and front seat occupants of a type of
  1  9 motor vehicle which that is subject to registration in
  1 10 Iowa, except a motorcycle or a motorized bicycle,
  1 11 shall each wear a properly adjusted and fastened
  1 12 safety belt or safety harness any time the vehicle is
  1 13 in forward motion on a street or highway in this state
  1 14 except that a child under six thirteen years of age
  1 15 shall be secured as required under section 321.446.
  1 16    Sec.    .  Section 321.446, subsections 1 and 2,
  1 17 Code 2001, are amended to read as follows:
  1 18    1.  A child under three six years of age who is
  1 19 being transported in a motor vehicle subject to
  1 20 registration, except a school bus or motorcycle, shall
  1 21 be secured during transit by a child restraint system
  1 22 which meets federal motor vehicle safety standards,
  1 23 and the system shall be used in accordance with the
  1 24 manufacturer's instructions.
  1 25    2.  A child at least three six years of age but
  1 26 under six thirteen years of age who is being
  1 27 transported in a motor vehicle subject to
  1 28 registration, except a school bus or motorcycle, shall
  1 29 be secured during transit by either a child restraint
  1 30 system that meets federal motor vehicle safety
  1 31 standards and is used in accordance with the
  1 32 manufacturer's instructions, or by a safety belt or
  1 33 safety harness of a type approved under section
  1 34 321.445."
