1 2 #1. By striking page 23, line 3 through page 35,
1 3 line 5, and inserting the following:
1 4 "Sec. . INTERIM STUDY COMMITTEE ON SCHOOL BOARD
1 5 ELECTIONS. The legislative council is requested to
1 6 establish a legislative interim study committee for
1 7 the 2001 interim on the conduct of school district and
1 8 merged area elections under current Iowa law. If
1 9 established, the committee should be directed to
1 10 review all issues concerning school district and
1 11 merged area elections in this state, including dates
1 12 of regular and special elections and whether these
1 13 elections can be held in conjunction with any other
1 14 regularly scheduled elections, number of board
1 15 members, length of term of office of board members,
1 16 qualifications of board members, school and merged
1 17 area issues that are required to be decided by
1 18 referendum, and other issues related to school
1 19 district and merged area elections."
1 20 2. By renumbering as necessary.
