1 4 "Sec. . LEGISLATIVE STUDY – INVOLUNTARY
1 5 HOSPITALIZATION AND INVOLUNTARY COMMITMENT
1 6 PROCEEDINGS. The legislative council is requested to
1 7 establish a study committee during the 2001 interim on
1 8 issues relating to involuntary hospitalization
1 9 including, but not limited to, both inpatient and
1 10 outpatient commitment proceedings and advanced
1 11 directives. The study committee shall consist of
1 12 legislator members of both political parties from both
1 13 houses of the general assembly, representatives of the
1 14 judicial branch and the department of corrections, law
1 15 enforcement personnel, including police officers and
1 16 sheriffs, mental health consumers, mental health
1 17 advocacy groups, including, but not limited to,
1 18 representatives from the alliance for the mentally ill
1 19 and mental health advocates, representatives from the
1 20 Iowa department of public health, and representatives
1 21 from the psychiatric and psychological services
1 22 community."
1 23 #2. Title page, line 4, by inserting after the
1 24 word "abusers" the following: ", providing for an
1 25 interim study committee,".
