RECESS On motion of Senator Iverson, the Senate recessed at 9:41 a.m., until 5:00 p.m. APPENDIX COMMUNICATION RECEIVED The following communication was received in the office of the Secretary of the Senate and placed on file in the Legislative Service Bureau: March 8, 2000 DEPARTMENT FOR THE BLIND Purchase of Products with Recycled Content Report for 1999, as required by Iowa Code chapter 216B.3, section 12d. CERTIFICATES OF RECOGNITION The Secretary of the Senate issued the following certificates of recognition: Ashley Hecox, Keokuk - For being a first place winner in the "Write Women Back into History" Essay Contest. Senator Shearer (03/08/00). Philip Petrie, Marshalltown - For achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Senator McKibben (03/08/00). EXPLANATION OF VOTE MADAM PRESIDENT: I was necessarily absent from the Senate Chamber on March 7, 2000, when the vote was taken on Senate File 2371. Had I been present, I would have voted "Aye."
