  The Senate met in regular session at 10:10 a.m., President Kramer
  presiding.

  Prayer was offered by Pastor Daniel Parsch of the Gloria Dei
  Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa, guest of Senator Maddox.

  The Journal of Friday, January 14, 2000, was approved.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senator Veenstra, until he arrives, on request of Senator Hedge; Senator
  Fink,
  until he arrives, on request of Senator Black; Senator McLaren, for the
  remainder of
  the week, on request of Senator Iverson; Senator Jensen, until he arrives,
  on request of
  Senator Iverson; and Senator Flynn, until he arrives, on request of Senator
  Shearer.
