The House met pursuant to adjournment at 1:08 p.m., Speaker pro
tempore Sukup in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Ed Ward, pastor of St. Stephens
Lutheran Church, West Des Moines.
The Journal of Friday, February 11, 2000 was approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by students from Southeast Polk
Junior High. They were accompanied by their teacher Dee
Martinson. Prior to the Pledge the students read the poem, "Our
Flag" written by them.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Leave of absence was granted as follows:
Greiner of Washington on request of Rants of Woodbury.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 2244, by Dix, Witt, Boddicker, Davis, Foege, and
Reynolds, a bill for an act relating to the creation of a consolidated
and comprehensive system of personal assistance services.
Read first time and referred to committee on human resources.
House File 2245, by Frevert, a bill for an act relating to
confinement feeding operations, by providing that contractors are
liable for civil penalties arising out of violations committed by
contract producers.
Read first time and referred to committee on agriculture.
