EIGHTY-SEVENTH CALENDAR DAY FIFTY-FIRST SESSION DAY Senate Chamber Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday, April 7, 1999 The Senate met in regular session at 9:09 a.m., President Kramer presiding. Prayer was offered by Reverend Lawrence R. Hoffman, pastor of Saint Anthony's Church, Des Moines, Iowa. The Journal of Tuesday, April 6, 1999, was approved. SPECIAL GUESTS Senator Hedge introduced the following guests representing the Sixty-Fourth Annual Tulip Time Festival: Queen Elizabeth Schepel, who introduced the members of her court: Rachel Henderson, Lindsey Kraayenbrink, Amy Steenhoek and Jessica Van Ee. Queen Elizabeth invited the members of the Senate to attend the Tulip Time Festival in Pella on May 6, 7 and 8. The Queen and her court presented President Kramer with a box of Dutch cookies. The Queen, her attendants, and their parents distributed the famous Dutch cookies to the Senators and staff. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS The Chair welcomed University of Northern Iowa students who are shadowing several Senators today.
