  The Senate met in regular session at 1:14 p.m., President pro
  tempore Redfern presiding.

  Prayer was offered by Larry Prosser, pastor of the Russell
  Methodist Church, Russell, Iowa.

  The Journal of Thursday, February 4, 1999, was approved.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senators Hansen, Dvorsky, Bolkom, for the day, and Senator Flynn until he
  arrives, on request of Senator Gronstal.

  Senator Gaskill until he arrives, on request of Senator Sexton.

  INTRODUCTION OF BILLS

  Senate File 101, by committee on Judiciary, a bill for an act
  establishing the offense of promoting or possessing contraband in
  prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities and establishing penalties.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.

  Senate File 102, by committee on Judiciary, a bill for an act
  relating to nonsubstantive Code corrections.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.
