Fifty-third Calendar Day - Thirty-third Session Day Hall of the House of Representatives Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday, March 4, 1999 The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:45 a.m., Speaker Corbett in the chair. Prayer was offered by Reverend Richard Sipe, pastor of First Baptist Church, Marshalltown. The Journal of Wednesday, March 3, 1999 was approved. LEAVE OF ABSENCE Leave of absence was granted as follows: Blodgett of Cerro Gordo on request of Siegrist of Pottawattamie; Ford of Polk on request of Kreiman of Davis; Chapman of Linn on request of Myers of Johnson. INTRODUCTION OF BILLS House File 500, by Burnett, a bill for an act relating to filing fees and service and other costs for petitions for relief from domestic abuse. Read first time and referred to committee on judiciary. House File 501, by committee on judiciary , a bill for an act re- lating to the imposition of mandatory minimum fines upon conviction of certain felonies. Read first time and placed on the calendar. House File 502, by Reynolds, a bill for an act relating to the pro- vision of visitation rights to the sibling of a child placed in foster care. Read first time and referred to committee on human resources.
