penalties for an assault on a jailer, previously deferred, was taken up 
for consideration.
Sunderbruch of Scott moved that the bill be read a last time now 
and placed upon its passage which motion prevailed and the bill was 
read a last time.

The bill having received a constitutional majority was declared to 
have passed the House and the title was agreed to.
IMMEDIATE MESSAGE
Siegrist of Pottawattamie asked and received unanimous consent 
that House File 386 be immediately messaged to the Senate.
The House stood at ease at 3:55 p.m., until the fall of the gavel.
The House resumed session at 4:16 p.m., Carroll of Poweshiek in 
the chair.
House File 395, a bill for an act providing that defendants 
convicted of class "C" vehicular manslaughter are not bailable on 
appeal, was taken up for consideration.
Holveck of Polk asked and received unanimous consent to 
withdraw amendment H-1042 filed by him on March 1, 1999.
Sukup of Franklin moved that the bill be read a last time now and 
placed upon its passage which motion prevailed and the bill was read 
a last time.
