PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 257.14, subsection 2, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 2. For the budget year beginning July 1,19951999, if the 1 4 department of management determines that the regular program 1 5 district cost plus the budget adjustment computed under 1 6 subsection 1 of a school district is less than one hundred one 1 7 percent of the total of the regular program district cost plus 1 8 any adjustment added under this section for the base year for 1 9 that school district, the department of management shall 1 10 provide an additional budget adjustment for that budget year 1 11 that is equal to the difference. 1 12 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of 1 13 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 1 14 EXPLANATION 1 15 This bill provides, for the budget year beginning July 1, 1 16 1999, that if a school district's regular program district 1 17 cost, with the budget guarantee provision, is less than 101 1 18 percent of the regular program district cost with the budget 1 19 guarantee provision for the year preceding the budget year, 1 20 the department of management shall provide an additional 1 21 budget adjustment to reach the 101-percent level.
