1 2 BY IVERSON AND McCOY
1 3 A Senate Resolution congratulating the Des Moines
1 4 Buccaneers.
1 5 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa and the fans of the
1 6 Des Moines Buccaneers Hockey Team wish to congratulate
1 7 the Buccaneers for an outstanding season; and
1 8 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa and the fans of the
1 9 Des Moines Buccaneers are thrilled that the Buccaneers
1 10 won the Clark Cup finals of the United States Hockey
1 11 League (USHL) by defeating the Omaha Lancers; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa and the fans of the
1 13 Des Moines Buccaneers are greatly pleased that the
1 14 Buccaneers posted a spectacular season record of 48-7,
1 15 recorded 19 consecutive wins, and compiled a home
1 16 season record of 30-2, all of which are USHL single
1 17 season records; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the Des Moines Buccaneers scored an
1 19 astounding 304 goals during the 1998-1999 season which
1 20 is 70 more goals than scored by any other team; and
1 21 WHEREAS, fans of the Des Moines Buccaneers should
1 22 be congratulated for their loyalty and enthusiasm for
1 23 the Buccaneers exhibited through an average attendance
1 24 of 3,063 for each home game; and
1 25 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa wish to honor the Des
1 26 Moines Buccaneers' Head Coach Scott Owens for his
1 27 leadership and integrity which has been an inspiration
1 28 to both his players and the fans of the Buccaneers;
1 29 NOW THEREFORE,
1 30 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That Coach Scott
2 1 Owens and the Des Moines Buccaneers be commended for a
2 2 successful season, that they are wished the best of
2 3 luck in the Gold Cup, and that they be thanked for the
2 4 honor and excitement they have brought to the State of
2 5 Iowa.
