PAG LIN 1 1 SENATE FILE 2142 1 2 1 3 AN ACT 1 4 RELATING TO CRIME VICTIM COMPENSATION. 1 5 1 6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 1 7 1 8 Section 1. Section 915.86, Code Supplement 1999, is 1 9 amended by adding the following new subsections: 1 10 NEW SUBSECTION. 2A. Loss of income from work that the 1 11 victim's parent or caretaker would have performed and for 1 12 which the victim's parent or caretaker would have received 1 13 remuneration when the victim's parent or caretaker accompanies 1 14 the victim to medical and counseling services, not to exceed 1 15 one thousand dollars. 1 16 NEW SUBSECTION. 2B. Loss of income from work that the 1 17 victim, the victim's parent or caretaker, or the survivor of a 1 18 homicide victim as described in subsection 8, would have 1 19 performed and for which that person would have received 1 20 remuneration, where the loss of income is a direct result of 1 21 cooperation with the investigation and prosecution of the 1 22 crime or attendance at criminal justice proceedings including 1 23 the trial and sentencing in the case, not to exceed one 1 24 thousand dollars. 1 25 Sec. 2. Section 915.86, subsections 7, 8, and 9, Code 1 26 Supplement 1999, are amended to read as follows: 1 27 7. In the event of avictim's deathhomicide, reasonable 1 28 charges incurred for health care for the victim's spouse,1 29children, parents, siblings, or persons related by blood or1 30affinity to; child, foster child, stepchild, son-in-law, or 1 31 daughter-in-law; parent, foster parent, or stepparent; 1 32 sibling, foster sibling, stepsibling, brother-in-law, or 1 33 sister-in-law; grandparent; grandchild; aunt, uncle, or first 1 34 cousin; legal ward; or person cohabiting with the victim, not 1 35 to exceed three thousand dollars per survivor. 2 1 8. In the event of avictim's deathhomicide, loss of 2 2 income from work that, but for the death of the victim, would 2 3 have been earned by the victim's spouse, child, parent,2 4sibling, or person cohabiting with or related by blood or2 5affinity to; child, foster child, stepchild, son-in-law, or 2 6 daughter-in-law; parent, foster parent, or stepparent; 2 7 sibling, foster sibling, stepsibling, brother-in-law, or 2 8 sister-in-law; grandparent; grandchild; aunt, uncle, or first 2 9 cousin; legal ward; or person cohabiting with the victim, not 2 10 to exceed six thousand dollars. 2 11 9. Reasonable expenses incurred for cleaning the scene of 2 12 ahomicidecrime, if the scene is a residence, not to exceed 2 13 one thousand dollars. 2 14 2 15 2 16 2 17 MARY E.
