1 4 RELATING TO THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS BY
1 5 AUDIOLOGISTS AND SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS.

1 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 9 Section 1. Section 147.74, subsection 11, Code 1999, is
1 10 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
1 11 thereof the following:
1 12 11. A speech pathologist with an earned doctoral degree in
1 13 speech pathology obtained beyond a bachelor's degree from an
1 14 accredited school, college, or university, may use the suffix
1 15 designating the degree, or the prefix "Doctor" or "Dr." and
1 16 add after the person's name the words "speech pathologist".
1 17 An audiologist with an earned doctoral degree in audiology
1 18 obtained beyond a bachelor's degree from an accredited school,
1 19 college, or university, may use the suffix designating the
1 20 degree, or the prefix "Doctor" or "Dr." and add after the
1 21 person's name the word "audiologist".
