1 1 Section 1. Section 261.9, subsection 1, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. bb. Which is a school of cosmetology
1 4 accredited by the accrediting commission for career schools
1 5 and colleges of technology or by the national accrediting
1 6 commission of cosmetology arts and sciences, and is licensed
1 7 under section 157.8.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill expands the definition of "accredited private
1 10 institution", as used by the college student aid commission to
1 11 determine student eligibility for state student financial
1 12 assistance, to include a school of cosmetology accredited by
1 13 the accrediting commission for career schools and colleges of
1 14 technology or by the national accrediting commission of
1 15 cosmetology arts and sciences.
