PAG LIN 1 1 Amend the amendment, S-5622, to House File 2549, as 1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as 1 3 follows: 1 4 #1. Page 11, by striking lines 34 through 37. 1 5 #2. Page 12, by striking lines 42 through 50. 1 6 #3. By striking page 30, line 40 through page 31, 1 7 line 12, and inserting the following: 1 8 "Sec. . Section 294A.25, subsections 1, 6, 10, 1 9 12, 13, and 14, Code Supplement 1999, are amended to 1 10 read as follows: 1 11 1. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19981 12 2000, and for each succeeding year, there is 1 13 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the 1 14 department of education the amount of eighty-two 1 15 million eight hundred ninety-one thousand three 1 16 hundred thirty-six dollars to be used to improve 1 17 teacher salaries. The moneys shall be distributed as 1 18 provided in this section. 1 19 6. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19991 20 2000, and ending June 30,20002001, from phase III 1 21 moneys the amount of fifty thousand dollars to the 1 22 department of education for the geography alliance. 1 23 10. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19981 24 2000, and for each succeeding fiscal year, the amount 1 25 of seventy thousand dollars to the state board of 1 26 regents for equal distribution to the Iowa braille and 1 27 sight saving school and the Iowa state school for the 1 28 deaf from phase III moneys. 1 29 12. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19991 30 2000, and ending June 30,20002001, to the department 1 31 of education from phase III moneys the amount of one 1 32 hundred fifty thousand dollars to the Iowa public 1 33 broadcasting division for overnight transmitter feeds. 1 34 13. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19991 35 2000, and ending June 30,20002001, to the department 1 36 of education from phase III moneys the amount of fifty 1 37 thousand dollars for participation in the national 1 38 assessment of education progress. 1 39 14. For the fiscal year beginning July 1,19991 40 2000, and ending June 30,20002001, to the department 1 41 of education from phase III moneys the amount of fifty 1 42 thousand dollars for the Iowa mathematics and science 1 43 coalition. 1 44 Sec. . Section 294A.25, Code Supplement 1999, 1 45 is amended by adding the following new subsection: 1 46 NEW SUBSECTION. 15. For the fiscal year beginning 1 47 July 1, 2000, and ending June 30, 2001, to the 1 48 department of education from phase III moneys the 1 49 amount of one million two hundred fifty thousand 1 50 dollars for support for the operations of the new Iowa 2 1 schools development corporation and for school 2 2 transformation design and implementation projects 2 3 administered by the corporation. Of the amount 2 4 provided in this subsection, one hundred fifty 2 5 thousand dollars shall be used for the school and 2 6 community planning initiative." 2 7 #4.
