1 3 #1. Page 68, by striking lines 9 through 28, and
1 4 inserting the following:
1 5 "Sec. 44. ADOPTION SPECIAL SERVICES – FOSTER
1 6 CHILD. It is the intent of the general assembly that,
1 7 commencing with the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 8 1999, the department do all of the following:
1 9 1. Add respite care to the category of special
1 10 services provided to a child with physical or mental
1 11 disabilities or to an older or otherwise hard-to-place
1 12 child who is adopted.
1 13 2. Continue special services to a foster child
1 14 following the filing of an adoption petition and for a
1 15 reasonable time following issuance of an adoption
1 16 decree relating to the child. The reasonable time may
1 17 be limited to not less than twenty days following
1 18 issuance of the adoption decree to allow the adoptive
1 19 parents to provide documentation of efforts to obtain
1 20 special services free of cost or under the adoptive
1 21 parent's insurance policy."
