1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by striking lines 3 through 18 and
1 4 inserting the following:
1 5 "1. A state poet laureate nominating committee is
1 6 created. At the request of the governor, the
1 7 executive director of humanities Iowa and the
1 8 executive director of the Iowa arts council shall each
1 9 appoint three persons who reside in this state to a
1 10 poet laureate nominating committee. At its initial
1 11 meeting held at the call of the executive directors of
1 12 humanities Iowa and the Iowa arts council, the state
1 13 poet laureate nominating committee shall elect a
1 14 chairperson and vice chairperson from among its
1 15 members and adopt rules of procedure. The members of
1 16 the state poet laureate nominating committee shall be
1 17 invited to serve without compensation for their
1 18 services. The nominating committee is charged with
1 19 considering the diversity of the people and poetry of
1 20 Iowa."
