  1  1    Section 1.  Section 805.8, subsection 2, paragraph k,
  1  2 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code Supplement 1999, is amended to
  1  3 read as follows:
  1  4    For violations by operators of school buses and emergency
  1  5 vehicles, and for violations by other motor vehicle operators
  1  6 when in vicinity, under sections 321.231, 321.324, and
  1  7 321.372, subsections 1 and 2, the scheduled fine is twenty-
  1  8 five dollars.  For violations of section 321.372, subsection
  1  9 3, the scheduled fine is one two hundred dollars.  
  1 10                           EXPLANATION 
  1 11    This bill increases the scheduled fine for violations of
  1 12 the requirements that motor vehicle operators reduce their
  1 13 speed to 20 miles per hour when a school bus' amber warning
  1 14 lamps are flashing, not pass a school bus when the bus' red or
  1 15 amber warning signal lights are flashing, and stop when the
  1 16 school bus stops and its stop signal arm is extended.  The
  1 17 fine is increased from $100 to $200.
