  1  1    Section 1.  Section 135.43, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code
  1  2 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    a.  Collect, review, and analyze child death certificates
  1  4 and child death data, including patient records or other
  1  5 pertinent confidential information concerning the deaths of
  1  6 children age six eighteen or younger, and other information as
  1  7 the review team deems appropriate for use in preparing an
  1  8 annual report to the governor and the general assembly
  1  9 concerning the causes and manner of child deaths.  The report
  1 10 shall include analysis of factual information obtained through
  1 11 review and recommendations regarding prevention of child
  1 12 deaths.  
  1 13                           EXPLANATION
  1 14    This bill amends the duties of the child death review team,
  1 15 to require review of all deaths of children age 18 and
  1 16 younger, rather than only those under the age of six.
