  1  1    Section 1.  Section 331.321, subsection 1, paragraph a,
  1  2 Code l999, is amended by striking the paragraph.  
  1  3                           EXPLANATION
  1  4    This bill strikes a provision providing for the appointment
  1  5 of the emergency management coordinator by the county board of
  1  6 supervisors.  Before 1992, the board of supervisors was the
  1  7 appointing authority, but Code section 29C.10 was amended in
  1  8 1992 to have the emergency management coordinator appointed by
  1  9 the local or joint emergency management commission.  Code
  1 10 section 331.321, subsection 1, was not amended to reflect the
  1 11 change in appointing authority.
