PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 252D.17, subsection 6, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 6. The payor may combine amounts withheld from the 1 4 obligors' income in a single payment to the clerk of the 1 5 district court or to the collection services center, as 1 6 appropriate. Whether combined or separate, payments shall be 1 7 identified by the name of the obligor, account number, amount, 1 8 and, until October 1, 1999,the date withheld. The date on 1 9 which child support is withheld from the obligor by the payor 1 10 of income shall constitute the date of collection by the clerk 1 11 of the district court or the collection services center for 1 12 the purposes of crediting the support obligation of the 1 13 obligor. If payments for multiple obligors are combined, the 1 14 portion of the payment attributable to each obligor shall be 1 15 specifically identified. 1 16 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of 1 17 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 1 18 EXPLANATION 1 19 This bill removes the date, October 1, 1999, as the last 1 20 date on which a payor of income (an employer, trustee, or 1 21 governmental entity) was required to include, in payment 1 22 identification, the date income was withheld from a child 1 23 support obligor. By removing the date, the bill would allow 1 24 the practice of including the date that income was withheld in 1 25 the identification of the child support payments made by 1 26 payors of income to continue. Additionally, the bill provides 1 27 that the date on which child support is withheld from the 1 28 obligor by the payor of income constitutes the date of 1 29 collection by the clerk of the district court or the 1 30 collection services center for the purposes of crediting the 1 31 child support obligation of the obligor. 1 32 The bill is effective upon enactment. 1 33 LSB 5654HC 78 1 34 pf/cf/24.1
