1 1 Section 1. SCOPE OF PRACTICE REVIEW COMMITTEE FOR
1 2 CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MIDWIVES. The Iowa department of
1 3 public health, pursuant to the scope of practice review
1 4 committee pilot project established in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter
1 5 203, section 6, shall establish a scope of practice review
1 6 committee to conduct a review of a request for the
1 7 establishment of licensure requirements for certified
1 8 professional midwives. The department shall submit a report
1 9 to the general assembly by January 10, 2000, containing the
1 10 review committee's findings and recommendations.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill provides for the establishment of a scope of
1 13 practice review committee regarding the proposed licensure of
1 14 certified professional midwives. The bill requires the Iowa
1 15 department of public health to establish the committee
1 16 pursuant to the scope of practice review committee pilot
1 17 project established in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 203, section 6.
1 18 The review committee will review a request for the
1 19 establishment of licensure requirements for certified
1 20 professional midwives, and will submit a report of its
1 21 findings and recommendations to the general assembly by
1 22 January 10, 2000.
