1 1 Section 1. Section 232.52, subsection 2, paragraph a,
1 2 subparagraph (4), Code 1999, is amended by adding the
1 3 following new subparagraph subdivisions:
1 4 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH SUBDIVISION. (g) Section 708.1, if the
1 5 assault is committed upon an employee of the school at which
1 6 the child is enrolled, and the child intended to inflict
1 7 serious injury upon the school employee or caused bodily
1 8 injury or mental illness.
1 9 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH SUBDIVISION. (h) Section 724.4, if the
1 10 child carried the dangerous weapon on school grounds.
1 11 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH SUBDIVISION. (i) Section 724.4B.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill amends Code section 232.52, relating to
1 14 dispositional orders entered by juvenile courts in regard to
1 15 children who are found to have committed a delinquent act.
1 16 The bill provides that a court may enter a dispositional
1 17 order prescribing the suspension or revocation of the driver's
1 18 license or operating privilege of such a child for a period of
1 19 one year if the delinquent act committed by the child is any
1 20 of the following: an assault, in violation of Code section
1 21 708.1, if committed upon an employee of the school at which
1 22 the child is enrolled, and the child intended to inflict
1 23 serious injury on the school employee or caused bodily injury
1 24 or mental illness; a violation of Code section 724.4, relating
1 25 to carrying weapons, if the child carried a dangerous weapon
1 26 on school grounds; or a violation of Code section 724.4B,
1 27 which prohibits persons from carrying a firearm on school
1 28 grounds.
