1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY HEATON and MARTIN
1 3 A House Resolution relating to fully funding the senior-
1 4 living program.
1 5 WHEREAS, Senate File 2193, as enacted by the 2000
1 6 Session of the Iowa General Assembly and approved by
1 7 the Governor of the State of Iowa, establishes the
1 8 parameters for the development of a comprehensive
1 9 long-term care system that is consumer-directed, and
1 10 provides a balance between the alternatives of
1 11 institutionally and noninstitutionally provided
1 12 services; and
1 13 WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Human Services has
1 14 submitted a state plan to the Health Care Financing
1 15 Administration of the United States Department of
1 16 Health and Human Services to effectuate such a
1 17 comprehensive long-term care system; and
1 18 WHEREAS, implementation of such a comprehensive
1 19 system is contingent upon federal funding of the state
1 20 plan as submitted; NOW THEREFORE,
1 21 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 22 That the Iowa congressional delegation take necessary
1 23 action to encourage the United States Health Care
1 24 Financing Administration to fully fund the state plan
1 25 as submitted.
1 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this
1 27 resolution be sent to all members of Iowa's
1 28 congressional delegation.
