1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY NELSON-FORBES
1 3 A House Resolution honoring Iowa Valley Community
1 4 College District.
1 5 WHEREAS, Iowa Valley Community College District has
1 6 received a prestigious Bellwether Finalist Award from
1 7 the 2000 Community College Futures Assembly; and
1 8 WHEREAS, the Bellwether Awards are sponsored by the
1 9 Institute of Higher Education at the University of
1 10 Florida, and were created to recognize outstanding and
1 11 innovative practices that successfully lead community
1 12 colleges into the future; and
1 13 WHEREAS, finalists were selected on how well the
1 14 programs addressed the theme of the 2000 Community
1 15 College Futures Assembly, identified an issue critical
1 16 to community colleges, and documented the required
1 17 criteria; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the category of Planning, Governance and
1 19 Finance entries included programs designed and
1 20 successfully implemented to improve efficiency and
1 21 effectiveness in the community college; and
1 22 WHEREAS, the program created by Iowa Valley
1 23 Community College District, entitled "Contribution
1 24 Margin Budgeting," was designed to offer a rational
1 25 management tool for sound fiscal and academic
1 26 management for higher education, and was selected from
1 27 60 competing presenters to finish second in the
1 28 category of Planning, Governance and Finance; and
1 29 WHEREAS, the knowledge, dedication, and
1 30 professionalism of administrators serving the Iowa
2 1 Valley Community College District have been nationally
2 2 recognized by the receipt of this quality award; and
2 3 WHEREAS, the "Contribution Margin Budgeting"
2 4 process will be published in an upcoming issue of the
2 5 Community College Journal of Research and Practice;
2 6 NOW THEREFORE,
2 7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE, That the House
2 8 congratulates and honors Iowa Valley Community College
2 9 District.
2 10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 11 this Resolution be prepared and presented to the Iowa
2 12 Valley Community College District.
