1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY TAYLOR, CHAPMAN, THOMSON, FOEGE,
1 3 CORBETT, and LARSON
1 4 A Resolution honoring the City of Cedar Rapids on its
1 5 sesquicentennial year.
1 6 WHEREAS, the City of Cedar Rapids was incorporated
1 7 in 1849 and has since evolved as one of the finest
1 8 cities in America; and
1 9 WHEREAS, 1999 marks the sesquicentennial
1 10 anniversary year of the City of Cedar Rapids; and
1 11 WHEREAS, the City of Cedar Rapids has chosen its
1 12 sesquicentennial anniversary to celebrate its rich
1 13 cultural, educational, industrial, and civic history;
1 14 and
1 15 WHEREAS, the City of Cedar Rapids has chosen a
1 16 different celebration theme for each month of 1999:
1 17 January - kickoff, February - diversity, March -
1 18 volunteers, April - learning, May -architecture, June
1 19 -history, July - freedom, August -neighborhoods,
1 20 September - labor, October - business, November -
1 21 recreation, and December - looking forward for another
1 22 150 years; NOW THEREFORE,
1 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 24 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
1 25 extends its congratulations to the City of Cedar
1 26 Rapids on its sesquicentennial anniversary year and
1 27 for its 150 years of service to its citizens and to
1 28 the State of Iowa.
1 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
1 30 this Resolution be prepared and presented to the
2 1 Honorable Lee R. Clancey, Mayor of the City of Cedar
2 2 Rapids.
