1 3 A House Resolution honoring the Indian Hills
1 4 Community College Men's Basketball Team and
1 5 Coach Mike Capaccio.
1 6 WHEREAS, the Indian Hills Community College
1 7 Warriors Men's Basketball Team won 89 consecutive
1 8 games during a three-season span between December 1,
1 9 1996, and January 8, 1999; and
1 10 WHEREAS, the 89 consecutive games won by the
1 11 Warriors broke the National Collegiate Athletics
1 12 Association record of 88 consecutive games won set by
1 13 the University of California at Los Angeles from 1971
1 14 to 1974; and
1 15 WHEREAS, the Warriors won two National Junior
1 16 College championships during the 89-consecutive-games
1 17 winning streak in March 1997 and March 1998; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the Warriors were coached by Head Coach
1 19 Mike Capaccio and former Head Coach Terry Carroll
1 20 during the 89-consecutive-games winning streak; NOW
1 21 THEREFORE,
1 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 23 That Head Coach Mike Capaccio, former Head Coach Terry
1 24 Carroll, current and former assistant coaches Mike
1 25 Angstadt, Steve Golston, Mike Marquis, and Lorenzo
1 26 Watkins be congratulated on and recognized for their
1 27 outstanding leadership and coaching abilities; and
1 28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That all members of the
1 29 Warriors Men's Basketball Teams participating during
1 30 the 1996-1997, 1997-1998, and 1998-1999 seasons be
2 1 congratulated on and recognized for their record
2 2 achievement; and
2 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, an
2 4 official copy of this Resolution be sent to Coach Mike
2 5 Capaccio and the members of the Indian Hills Community
2 6 College Men's Basketball Team.
