1 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 10 Section 1. COUNTY SYSTEM FOR DATA STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL.

1 18 amended by adding the following new definition:
1 19 NEW DEFINITION. As used in this chapter, unless the
1 20 context otherwise requires, "list", "book", "record", or
1 21 "schedule" kept by a county auditor, assessor, treasurer,
1 22 recorder, sheriff, or other county officer means the county
1 23 system as defined in section 445.1.
1 24 2. The Code editor is directed to add the definition
1 25 prescribed in subsection 1 to the definition sections of each
1 26 chapter listed or, if a definition section does not exist, to
1 27 create a definition section including the definition
1 28 prescribed in subsection 1 for the chapter in the Code of
1 29 Iowa, 2001.
1 30 Sec. 2. Section 618.11, Code 1999, is amended by striking
1 31 the section and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
1 32 618.11 FEES FOR PUBLICATION.
1 33 The compensation, when not otherwise fixed, for the
1 34 publication in a newspaper of any notice, order, citation, or
1 35 other publication required or allowed by law shall be at a
2 1 rate of thirty-four cents for one insertion and twenty-three
2 2 cents for each subsequent insertion for each line of eight
2 3 point type two inches in length, or its equivalent. Beginning
2 4 June 1, 2001, and each June 1 thereafter, the state printing
2 5 administrator shall calculate a new rate for the following
2 6 fiscal year as prescribed in this section, and shall publish
2 7 this rate as a notice in the Iowa administrative bulletin
2 8 prior to the first day of the following calendar month. The
2 9 new rate shall be effective on the first day of the calendar
2 10 month following its publication. The rate shall be calculated
2 11 by applying the percentage change in the consumer price index
2 12 for all urban consumers for the last available twelve-month
2 13 period published in the federal register by the federal
2 14 department of labor, bureau of labor statistics, to the
2 15 existing rate as an increase or decrease in the rate rounded
2 16 to the nearest one-tenth of a cent. The calculation and
2 17 publication of the rate by the state printing administrator
2 18 shall be exempt from the provisions of chapters 17A and 25B.
