1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 101.14 LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS
1 2 RETAIL DISTRIBUTORS – PROPANE LOCATOR REQUIRED.
1 3 A retail distributor of liquefied petroleum gas shall make
1 4 available to the customers of the distributor a propane
1 5 locator to detect the presence of liquefied petroleum gas. A
1 6 distributor shall make the propane locator available to such
1 7 customers free of any charge, and in a manner which is timely
1 8 with respect to the needs of the customer requesting the use
1 9 of the propane locator. A distributor shall provide notice of
1 10 the availability of such locator no less than two times per
1 11 year, which may be included with a billing statement delivered
1 12 to such customers. The state fire marshal shall adopt rules
1 13 pursuant to chapter 17A to administer this section.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill creates a new Code section 101.14 and directs the
1 16 state fire marshal to adopt rules that require a retail
1 17 distributor of liquefied petroleum gas to make available a
1 18 propane locator to the customers of the distributor. The bill
1 19 provides that the propane locator is to be made available to
1 20 such customers free of any charge and in a manner which is
1 21 timely with respect to the needs of the customer requesting
1 22 the use of the propane locator. The bill also provides that
1 23 the distributor is to provide notice to the distributor's
1 24 customers of the availability of such locator no less than two
1 25 times per year, which may be included with a billing
1 26 statement.
